THE CLASSIC REVIVAL 2010

 

 
To celebrate the anniversary of the 1961 Cowes Torquay Powerboat Race the BPRC and COPOC are holding a Rally to be staged from Torquay where the first 8 years of the race finished and the scene of many famous victories. There are already 41 pre registered entries including the 1961 Cowes Torquay winner - Tommy Sopwith’s Thunderbolt now owned by COPOC Commodore Mike James.
 
It is proposed that the craft depart Cowes on Wednesday August 25th and make their way to Torquay for arrival mid to late afternoon. The Torquay Authorities will already have a week long celebration underway and the Classic Boat's will be welcomed with a display by the Red Arrows and a welcome reception hosted by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club.
 
Thursday August 26th the boats will be on display to the public, moored at Torquay whilst a reception for all participants of the Rally will be held at the Barceló Torquay Imperial Hotel.
 
Friday August 27th it is proposed that the fleet of Classic Boats will head to Cowes, the boats will arrive on Friday evening in time to witness the Cowes Torquay Cowes to be held on Sunday 29th August.
